Jack Sweeper
Jack Sweeper - made by husband and wife team of Phil and Abi Lutas for 20 Second Game Jam 2024.
We took the theme "Explore or Explode" and decide to go for a real-time Minesweeper game using loosely similar mechanics to the classic arcade game, Bomb Jack.
The aim of the game is to collect all 10 hearts in the level whilst avoiding the bombs. Hitting a bomb will cause you to respawn, slowing you down. The bombs are hidden in the level but helpfully you will get Minesweeper style hints to let you know where they might be.
Use the cursor keys to move around. Up or Space activate jump. Holding jump down will enable the jetpack.

This is a very creative combination. I've honestly never seen anything like it! I enjoyed learning the maps and trying to get as many hearts as I could. The way the characters slid a bit just added to the difficulty, I thought it fit perfectly. I was eventually able to get 8/10 hearts once I memorized the map. Great entry and I can not wait to play more from you!

Really neat idea! Collected all 10 hearts. Ive never seen minesweeper crossed with a platformer before, and the speed-running nature of the timer really changes up how I conventionally approach minesweeper. I did think the controls were a tad slippery but otherwise it's a good execution of the concept!
